JAIRSHOW ’06 “COULD NOT HAVE BEEN BETTER!”
(Sioux Falls, SD) – “(Airshow ’06 in Sioux Falls) could not have been better!” stated Jim “Fang” Maroney, aerobatic pilot and one of the many featured acts that performed during the July 22 and 23 event. “It was just great to see how a whole community can pull together and make something this big happen so well.”
Costs for Airshow ’06 were underwritten by area businesses and a large team that included volunteers from the community and the members of The South Dakota Air National Guard.
Estimated attendance for the 2-day event numbered above 100,000, but sheer numbers were not the only barometer for gauging an Airshow’s success. “The weather was perfect, the performers were awesome and the South Dakota Air National Guard pulled off the logistics just beautifully,” stated Airshow Chairman, Larry Ritz. “But it’s our sponsors that really made everything happen. They’re the ones who kept it free and allowed the quality and caliber of performers we had.”
No less than 14 aerial events powered the Sioux Falls skies each day of the show and opportunities were made to make the acts accessible to the Airshow attendees. Though the crowds were large, there was still plenty of room for South Dakota hospitality to go around. Performer “Jacquie B Warda” exclaimed, “This was spectacular! I was treated so well by everyone – the Guard, the guests, the sponsors – thank you, Sioux Falls! This was a great Airshow!”
